Common Name The Sierra de Perija Microchilus [A mountain in northeastern Cesar Colombia]

Found in the department of Colombia, Guyana, French Guinana and Surinam in lowland temperate forests at elevations meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with an erect, terete, slightly flexuous stem carrying laxly 3 to 6, erect-patent, intense green, glabrous both sides, broadly lanceolate, shortly acuminate, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, densely villous, 4 to 4.2" [10 to 10.5 cm] long overall, rachis cylindrical, sublaxly 22 flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acute, shorter to just a bit longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying brownish flowers.

"Very similar to Microchilus claviger but easily separatred by the epichile form which in M clavigera is sagitate and apiculate. In M peterianus it is transversely ddeltoid and caute. But above all they can be seaparated by the spur form which in M claviger it is much swollen in the apical half and .088 to .1" in diameter. I m peterianus the spour is narrowly cylindrical and .04 to .06" [1 to 1.5 mm] in diameter." Szlachetko & Kolanowska 2017
