Found in Imbabura province of Ecuador at elevations around 1500 to 1600 meters as a medium to large sized, cool growing terrestrial with a partly decumbent in the lower 1/3rd then erect terete stem carrying 6, obliquely ovate- lanceolate, acute, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, terminal, pubescent, 14.32" [35.8 cm] long, peduncle 8.68" [21.7 cm] long, provided with 6 to 7, lax, acute sheathing bracts, rachis 5.64" [14.1 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acute, more than twice longer than the the ovary floral bracts and carrying externally pubescent, brown cinnamon colored flowers
"This species is probably most closely related to the Colombian Microchilus nugax , but it differs in having flowers with narrower .052 versus .068 to .07" (1.3 vs. 1.7 to 1.75 mm) petals and a labellum with a subanchoriform (not transversely ligulate) epichile that has a broad, cuneate (not sessile) base."
