Common Name Niessen's Oncidium [refers to Andrea Niessens of Orquideas del Valle Orchids in Cali Colombia current]

Found in Valle de Cauca department of Colombia at elevations around 600 meters as a small to just medium sized, warm growing epiphyte with narrowly ovate, laterally compressed, ancipitose pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, oblong-lanceolate, obtuse, shortly conduplicate below into the base leaf that blooms in the fall on an axillary, erect to arcuate spreading, peduncle shorter than the rachis, paniculate, rachis 5 to 10 shortly branched, each branch 3 to 4 flowered, to 26" [65 cm] long ovaerall, to 45 flowered inflorescence carrying fragrant flowers.
