Common Name The Kapuas Hulu Phalaenopsis [Refers to the locality of the type, a province of western Kalimantan Borneo]

Flower Size 1.12 to 1.4" [2.8 to 3.5 cm]

Found in western Kalimantan Borneo in very humid lowland forests on trunks and main branches at elevations of 50 to 300 meters as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with a stem carrying 5 to 15, pendent, leathery, elliptic, rounded, more or less shiny green leaves that blooms in the winter, spring and summer on 1 to 8, pendulous, 8 to 20" [20 to 50 cm] long, successively to simultaneously, 5 to 15 flowered inflorescence.

"This species is close to P rundumensis but P kapuasensis has shorter tepals not more than .68" [1.7 cm] long, a lip with a hairy midlobe and differnt shaped sidelobes. The best character separating it is the presense of short, rather thick hairs on the upper surface of the lip midlobe." W Higgins 2019
