SUBGENUS Acianthera SECTION Phloeophilae Luer 1986

Characterized by the repent rhizome bearing small, more or less round, prostrate leaves and a single flowered iflroescence arising from the apex of the short ramicaul without a ramicaul. The sepals are connate usually to near the middle. Most other floral aspects rae compatible with the subgenus.
