Found in Taiwan on montane slopes usually mixed in with moss and other herbs near running water at elevations of 2180 to 2350 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with an elongate, cylindrical, fleshy rhizome giving rise to a white, ascending to erect, slender, glabrous, slightly angular stem carrying 2, erect to ascending, oblong to oblong-lanceolate, attenuate and amplexicaul and forming a short tubular base, lustrous green surface and pale green beneath, glabrous on both surfaces, midrib impressed surface and elevated beneath, lateral veins inconspicuous, acute, uppermost smaller leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an erect to ascending, provided with 2 to 3, lanceolate, grading smaller above, acute bracts, 4.8 to 6" [12 to 15 cm] long, 5 to 7 flowered spicate inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, less than half as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying unscented flowers.
