Found in Hunan province of China in broad-leaved forests at elevations of 800 to 1500 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with a fusiform tuber giving rise to an erect stem provided with 1 to 2, cylindrical sheaths and carrying 3 to 5, linear-lanceolate, small towards the apex, acute leaves that blooms in the later spring on an erect, 4.6 to 9.2" [11.5 to 23.5 cm] long, laxly 13 to 30 flowered inflorescence
Said by Kew to be a synonym of Platanthera whangshanensis but I have left them separate for now.
