Found in southwestern Sichuan and western Yunnan provinces of China on forested slopes at elevations of 1900 to 3800 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a cylindric tuber giving rise to an erect, stou stem enveloped by 1 to 2 tubular, basal sheaths and carrying 4, cauline, elliptic to lanceolate, subacute, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an erect, peduncle provided with 3 to 5 bracts, rachis 2.8 to 4" [7 to 10 cm] long densely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, basal ones longer than the flowers, acuminate floral bracts.
