Found in Colorado, Utah and Arizona along shady canyon walls as a cold growing terrestrial with broadly rounded at first and then becoming obtuse and finally acute upwards leaves that blooms in the late summer and early spring on an erect, terminal, few to several flowered inflorescence

Similar to Platanthera sparsiflora but P zothecina differs in the lip and spur being 1.5 times longer and the few flowers of the inflorescence
