Found in northwestern Yunnan province of China on humus-covered rocks along streams at an elevation of 2400 to 2600 meters as a natural hybrid between P albiflora and P yunnanensis as a small sized, cold growing lithophyte with a green to dark olive green, conic-ovoid pseudobulbs carrying a single apical, not present at flowering, lanceolate to narrowly elliptic, acuminate leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, peduncle 3.2 to 4" [8 to 10 cm] long, single [rarely 2] flowered inflorescence with an as long as to slightly exceeding the ovary floral bract.

"Intermediate between P albiflora and P yunnanensis . It differs from P. albiflora by the longer peduncle, light pink flower (not white), and erose lamellae (not long papillae) on the lip. It also differs from P. yunnanensis by the floral bract that is as long as ovary or slightly longer than ovary (not shorter than ovary) and erose (not entire) lamellae on the lip." W. Zhang & S. B.
