Found in Antioquia department of Colombia on the Western Cordillera at elevations around 1900 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with stout, erect, terete ramicauls enveloped by a tubular, bract in the lower third and another at the base carrying a single, spreading, coriaceous, broadly ovate, obtuse, acuminate, sessile, deeply cordate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a fascile, all concealed by the broad, suberect spathe, of .28" [7 mm] long peduncles, successively single flowered inflorescence with a longer than the ovary floral bract.

"Characterized by broad, shortly acuminate leaves that are verdeeply cordate at the base with the lobes overlapping. The small flower similar to P bivalvis emerges from a conspicuos, suberect spathe.The dorsal sepal is subacute while the simiar synsepal is obtuse, the petals and lip are glabrous and entire. The lip is sagittate with basal lobes flanking the column." Luer 2005
