Found in Nicaragua and Costa Rica in tropical wet forests at elevation of 200 to 350 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot growing, caespitose, prostrate to suberect epiphyte with short, terete, cylindrical ramicauls enveloped completely by papyraceous sheaths and carrying single, apical, suborbicular to broadly elliptic, densely spotted with purple abaxially leaves that blooms in the spring on a lateral, from the apex of the stem, without an annulus, erect, peduncle cylindric, to .6" [15 mm] long, flexuous, distichous, [.6 to .8" [15 to 20 mm] long overall, successively 1 to 2, to 6 flowered inflorescence with infundibuliform, broadly ovate, acute, half as long as the pedicel and ovary.

"Part of the Pleurothallis grobyi-picta alliance. The species is similar to Pleurothallis pisinna but can be distinguished by the prostrate habit (vs erect habit), shorter leaves (up to .32" [8 mm] vs .44" [11 mm] long), the flexuous inflorescence with up to 6 flowers (vs straight and containing up to 3 flowers), the creamy-white flowers (vs heavily suffused and striped with purple) and the shorter lip (up to .0424" [1.6 mm] vs .0812" [2.3 mm]). Pleurothallis digitalis is also similar but the new species can be distinguished by the shorter leaves (.16 to .32" [4 to 8 mm] vs .48 to .6" [12 to 15 mm]), the shorter inflorescence (up to .6: [1.5 cm] vs up to 6" [15 cm]), the shorter sepals (.12 to .16" [3 to 4 mm] vs .2" [5 mm] long), the ligulate to narrowly elliptic petals (vs obovate) and the shorter lip (.6 to ..64" [1.5 to 1.6 mm] vs .08" [2 mm] long)" Karremans, Bogarín & Gravend. 2015
