Deep shade EARLY Spring

Common Name or Meaning The Papillose Lip Pleurothallis

Flower Size .6" [1.5 cm] wide

Found in Ecuador without locational data as a small to medium sized, caespitose epiphyte with erect, stems enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular, papery sheaths and carrying a single, apical, narrowly lanceolate, acute, abruptly narrowing below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the early spring on a fasciculate, arising through a spathe, peduncle .096 to .98" [2.4 to 2.7 mm] long, single, rarely 2 flowered inflorescence with a tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bract.

" The species is unique in the subsection in having a densely papillose lip. The species is most similar to Pleurothallis tiarata differing in the fewer-flowered inflorescence, longer petals and papillose lip." Doucette & Portilla 2016
