Found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela and Trinidad in cloud forests at elevations of 900 to 2000 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte and occasional terrestrial with an erect, apically wider and channeled ramicaul enveloped basally by 2 inflated, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, elliptic, acute, gradually narrowing below into a conduplicate sinus leaf that blooms in the spring and fall on more than one, arising from a spathe, erect, 6" [15 cm] long, several successively flowered inflorescence with an as long as to longer than the pedicel floral bract and carrying non-resupinate flowers.

”The size and color of the flowers is variable. Most commonly the flowers are small and transluscent green with small purplish spots. The protrudung petals are narrowly linear but various degrees of thickening occur towards the apex. The lip is transverse, concave centrally and acutely deflexed upon itself above the base with broadly rounded sides of the lateral lobes to either side. The apiculum of the rounded apex points downwards.” Luer 1999
