Found in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Ivory Coast on granite peaks at elevations of 1000 to 1500 meters as a medium sized, cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte with an erect, basally somewhat swollen, tapering above pseudobulb carrying 3 to 5 banded, deciduosu before blooimg leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, erect, 12 to 20" [30 to 50 cm] long overall, stalked, enveloped by membraneous, acute, nerved sheaths, rachis 4.5" [10.2 cm] long, multiflowered inflorescence with triangularapiculate, reflexed floral bracts and carrying mauve colored flowers with a yellow papillary cushion of the mesochile of the lip.
