Common Name Dejonghe's Porroglossum [Belgian Pleurothallid Enthusiast current]

Flower Size .8" [2cm]

Found in Ecuador without locational data as a mini-mniature sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by a tubular sheath about as long, and carrying a single apical, erect, coriaceous, slightly verrucose, narrowly elliptical, acute, narrowly cuneate below intothe petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect, from low on the ramicaul, peduncle 4" [10 cm] long, slender, densely vilous-spiculate, 4" [10 cm] long, successively single, few flwoered inflorescence with half as long as the pedicel floral bracts and carrying orange flowers with a white lip.

"Similar to the vegetatively much larger P echidna which also has sparsely verrucose externally and fleshy sepals. The sepaline tails are slender instead of thickened in the distal half as in P echidna. Instead of a broadly rounded mentum below the tip of the column foot, the lateral sepals of P dejonghei form a narrow, deeper mentum. The petals are similar with entire margins. The pair of low, rounded calli that filll the apical half of the blade of the lip of P echidna are not present." Luer 2011
