Common Name Medina's Porrooglossum [Colombian Orchid Enthusiast current]

Flower Size .64 to .68" [1.6 to 1.7 cm]

Found in Putamayo department of Colombia in disturbed humid montane forest at elevations around 2300 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, minutely verrucose, elliptical, obtuse, minutely tridentate, shortly petiolte base leaf that blooms in the later spring on an erect, provided with 3, distant, tubular bracts, to 4.4" [11 cm] long, slender, glabrous, single flowered inflorescence with a tubular, shorter than the ovary floral bract and carrying a resupinate flower with brownish yellow with darker tails, petals yellow and a white lip with a purple flush in the center.

This species is unique to the genus in its single flowered inflorescence that is not successively flowered.
