Common Name The Colombian Pterichis

Flower Size 1.6" [4 cm] long

Found in Boyaca department of Colombia in cloud forests at elevations around 3850 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with fasciculate, tuberous roots that blooms in the late fall on an erect, glabrous below becoming gradually pubescent above to densely pilose apically, to 14.4" [36 cm] long ovarall, peduncle 12.8" [32 cm] long, provided with 5 distant, glabrous, triangular, acuminate bracts, rachis 1.6" [4 cm] long, sublax, 6 flowered inflorescence carrying non-resupinate flowers.

The new species is similar to P habenarioides but differs in the falcate petals and how they are positioned between the dorsal and laterals.
