Common Name Fernandez's Pterichis [Colombian Professor at Universidad Nacional de Colombia 1920 - 1994]

Flower Size '8 to 1.6" [2 to 4 cm] long

Found in Cundinamarca department of Colombia in cloud forests at elevations around 2750 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with tuberous, fasciculate roots giving rise to generally one, basal, oblong-lanceolate, acute, canaliculate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect, glandular-pilose, peduncle 2.8 to 4.4" [7 to 11 cm] long, provided with 2 distant, glandular pubescent bracts, rachis lax, .8 to 1.6" [2 to 4 cm] long, 4 to 12 flowered inflorescence carrying non-resupinate flowers.

The new species differs for P galetea and P leucoptera by the presence of only 2 distant bracts on the inflorescence and because the petals are close together with the dorsal sepal and superposed in the apical part
