Found in Jamaica on mossy banks in wet broadleavedforests at elevations of 1800 to 2200 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial without leaf data, blooming in the winter on an erect, puberulent, 16" [40 cm] long, peduncle with 5 scarious, amplexicaul, acute sheaths, rachis 4,8" [12 cm] long, quaquaversally, densely several flowered inflorescence with puberulent, ovate-lanceolate, acute, much shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying greenish, nonresupinate, externally glandular-pubescent flowers
