Common Name Glaziou's Pteroglossa [French Director of Rio Botanical Garden 1800's]

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in southeastern and southern Brazil as well as Paraguay as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial orchid with an erect stem enveloped basally by a whorl of spathulate, acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, conduplicate, petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, reddish to purplish, peduncle 24 to 28" [60 to 70 cm] long, provided and enveloped below by 5 to 7, spaced, lanceolate, acute sheathing bracts, rachis 6 to 8" [15 to 20 cm] long, laxly several to many flowered inflorescence with externally pubescent, internally glabrous linear, acute, longer than the ovary, floral bracts
