Found in Lesotho, Swaziland, Cape Province, Natal, Orange Free State and Transvaal South Africa in grasslands on rocky, gentle to steep slopes at elevations of 1200 to 2400 meters as a slender, to medium szied, cold growing terrestrial orchid with 2 [raely 3 to 4], ovate-oblong leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, terminal laxly 2 to 14 flowered inflorescence carrying soapy scented flowers
