Found in Tanzania in upland grasslands at elevations around 2000 meters as a large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with ovoid tubers giving rise to a rather slender stem carrying 5 to 6, lower 2 reduced to tight bracts, the upper 1 to 2 similar to the bracts, the middle 2 much larger, erect, oblanceolate, obtuse to acute, subcordate, the lower of the 2, larger, the upper smaller leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, terminal, [ rachis [4 to 6.5 cm] long, rather closely 7 to 11 flowered inflorescnece with erect to deflexed, lanceolate, acute, as long to longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying clear-green, erect flowers.
