Common Name Eggeling's Rhaesteria [German Botanist 20th century]

Found in Rwanda and Uganda on small savannah trees in grasslands or in the outskirts or within forests at elevations of 1300 to 2300 meters as a miniature sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with spreading or pendent stems carrying 2 ranked, ovate to ovate-elliptic, fleshy, unequally and minutely bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the spring and fall on a wiry becoming slightly zigzag, 1.2" [3 cm] long, 2 to 3 flowered inflorescence
"This remarkable plant is characterized especially by the unition of the sepals and petals in their lower part. This feature is found among African monopodial orchids only in the genus Taeniophyllum, which however is entoirely leafless and has a very short stem. In its broad convex labellum more or less embracing the column its general habit and ite separate pollinaria the genus is reminiscent of Angraecum but the rostellum is elongates and somewhat resembles a hammer, from which feature the generic name is derived."
