Common Name Hassler's Sacoila [botanist in Paraguay early 1900's]

Found in Surinam?, Parana state of Brazil and Paraguay as a large sized, cool growing terrestrial orchid with a robust, glabrous, pale green stem carrying 5 to 6 basal, larger, erect to erect-patent, inner ones are longer and attenuated into a pseudopetiole, the outer ones smaller and more obtuse, those on the stem are more distant, lower ones obtuse and the upper ones more acute leaves and becoming reduced to sheaths above that blooms on an erect, terminal, peduncle 20 to 32" [50 to 80 cm] long, rachis, 4 to6" [10 to 15 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with narrowly triangular-lanceolate, acute, slightly puberulous, shorter than the flower floral bracts and carrying white, membraneous flowers with the segments slightly open.
