Common Name The Cerro Pirre Scaphyglottis [A mountain in the Darien of Panama]

Found in the Darien of Panama on Cerro Pirre at elevations of 1200 to 1400 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with 2 to 3 levels of superposed shoots with the stems decreasing in size upwards each stem slender, not forming distinct pseudobulbs and carrying 2 apical, lanceolate-ligulate, tapering, narrowly retuse leaves with striate, persistent leaf sheaths that blooms in the summer on a terminal, 1 to few flowered inflorescence.

Similar to S triloba but it has wider leaves a much narrower lip and the lip and column foot are more distinctly sigmoid, pronounced and compressed than in any other species within Scaphyglottis.
