Common Name The Delicate Funkiella
Flower Size .4 x 1" [1 cm x 2.5 cm long]
Found in Chihuahua, Jalisco, Michoacan, Guerrero, Mexico, District federal, Quintana Roo, Tlax, Oaxaca, Puebla, Hidalgo states of Mexico as well as Guatemala on humid slopes and rocks, grassy places, bluffs and pine/fir forests at elevations of 2200 to 3800 meters as a small sized, cold growing, glabrous terrestrial with 1 to 3, basal or in the lower part of the stem, linear-lanceolate, acute, petiolate leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on an erect, terminal, 8" [20 cm] long, 2 to 4 flowered, pubescent inflorescence with carious, hyaline-margined, clasping, lanceolate-acuminate, as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying sessile flowers that stand at right angles to the stem.
" Deiregyne nonantzin is similar but F hyenalis has basal leaves that are dry and shriveled by antheses, the flowers lack the red color of the callus or on the base of the lip, and the lip is relatively broader, 2 to 3 times as long as wide."
