Common Name The Straight Sobralia [refers to the nonreflexed lip]

Found in Boca del Toros province of Panama at elevations of 800 meters as a large to giant sized, warm growing, caespitose terrestrial with erect, elongate stems carrying widely ovate, acuminate, subpetiolate base leaves with striate, slightly scurfy sheaths that blooms in the late summer and early fall, arising from the bract cluster, successively single, few flowered inflorescence.

Sobralia helleri is similar but S recta has a non-reflexed, straight lip, different colors and more stronglt marked cross veins of the leaves.
