Found in Costa Rica at elevations around 1500 meters as a small sized, cool growing, caespitose terrestrial with erect, purple or green speckled stems carrying dark green, often marked with purple near the base, nearly flat, 5 low keels beneath, elliptic to lanceolate-elliptic, acuminate, subpetiolate base leaves with purple to greenish speckled sheaths that blooms in the late spring and early summer on a terminal, successively single, few flowered inflorescence with a basally inflated floral bract.
