Found in Hidalgo, Vera Cruz, Oaxaca and Chiapas states of Mexico and Alta Verapaz, Chimaltenango and Huehuetenango departments of Guatemala on open grassy or rocky slopes at elevations of 2000 to 3150 meters as a small to just medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with fleshy roots giving rise to 2 to 5, basal, linear-lanceolate to narrowly oblong-lanceolate leaves that blooms in the late summer and earlier fall on an erect, terminal, peduncle 5.6 to 9.2" [14 to 23 cm] long, provided with 3 to 7 sheathing bracts, rachis 1.4 to 3.8" [3.5 to 9.5 cm] long, densely spiraled, 10 to 30 flowered inflorescence with green, acuminate, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying flowers with white to greenish white sepals, petals and lip.
"S nebulorum has capitriate hairs on the inflorescence like Spiranthes graminea but is distinguished by the ore basally curved and longer clawed lip. the lip of S nebulorum is also widfer in the basal half than in the distal half, less dark and fleshy, less crisped distally and has more prominent basal calli."Catling & V.R.Catling 1988
