Common Name Leinig's Stelis [Chemistry Professor Brazil 20th Century]

Flower Size .16" [4mm]

Found in Parana' state of southern Brasil in montane forests near marshy ground at elevations around 350 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 tubular, loose sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical to oblanceolate, obtuse, gradually attenuate into the petilate base leaf that blooms in the winter on an erect, arising through a spathe, shorter than the leaf, 1.6 to 2" [4 to 5 cm] long, racmose, distichous, densely many flowered, apically arched inflorescence with cup-shaped, imbricate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.

CAUTION Many references put this species as a synonym of S ciliaris, but if I have this determination correct then that is not possible.

Not positive of this determination as there are not many references with actual inflormation I need Pabst's orginal publication.
