Common Name The Queensland Theymitra - The Northern Sun Orchid

Flower Size 1 to 1.6" [2.5 to 4 cm]

Found in Queensland Australia on slopes and among rocks in open forests and less commonly along rainforest margins and around margins of rock sheets as well as road embankments at elevations of 800 to 1300 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with a single leaf that blooms in the latefall and winter on an erect, provided with 2 to 4 sterile bracts, 8 to 24" [20 to 60 cm] long, 4 to 15 flowered inflorescence and carrying purple to dark blue, rarely white, pinkish or lilac and externally mauve flowers
