Found in Venezuela in dense forests at elevations around 1300 meters as a medium sized, cool growing epiphyte or terrestrial with smooth, ovoid pseudobulbs that become rugose with age, subtended by 2 scarious sheaths and carrying 2, apical, plicate, petiolate, ovate, acute leaves that blooms in the summer on a basal, 2 to 3" [5 to 7.5 cm] long, several flowered, racemose inflorescence with inflated, acuminate floral bracts and fragrant flowers
