Common Name Refers in greek to being The Near Kinsman Bulbophyllum as it is closely related to Bulbophyllum macrobulbon

Found in Papua and New Guinea as a warm to cool growing, unifoliate epiphyte at elevations around 1560 meters where it blooms on a short, fasiculate, few flowered inflorescence that holds the flowers below the leaves up against the pseudobulb.
