Found in Sabah and Sarawak Borneo in mixed montane, mossy forests at elevations of 900 to 2500 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte or terrestrial in moss cushions with a creeping rhizome with .4 to 2.8" [1 to 7 cm] between each ovoid, not flattened pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, obovate to elliptic, medium green, often suffused with red, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, reddish, 7.8 to 24.8" [19 to 62 cm] long, lax, many flowered inflorescence with often fragrant flowers
