Common Name The Blood Speckled Bulbophyllum

Flower Size 1 to 1.4” [2.5 to 3.5 cm]

Found in Penninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Sulawesi and the Philippines in primary forests at elevations of 100 to 1300 meters as a small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with .2 to .58” [.05 to 1.4 cm] between each ovoid to almost cylindrical pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, elliptic to obovate, acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a basal, 2 to 2.6” [5 to 6.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence

Often cited as a synonym of B membraneifolium but this one has larger petals and has the purple markings willy nilly and not along the veins of the petals as well as open sepals below instead of united as in B membranifolium

Synonyms Bulbophyllum maculosum Ames 1915
