Common Name The Most Beautiful Bulbophyllum

Found in centrasl and southeastern Yunnan province of China in monsoon evergreen broadleaved forest at an elevation of 1750 to 2050 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome with 1.32 to 1.8" [3.3 to 4.5 cm] between each, ovoid pseudobulb enveloped by a membraneous sheath and carrying a single, apical, oblong to oblong-lanceolate, leathery, subacute apically, obscurely bilobed, narrowing below into the shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring and early summer on a basal, erect, peduncle provided with 1 papery, tubular sheaths, shorter than the pseudobulbs, 2.4 to 3.2" [6 to 8 cm] long, 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, obtuse, concave, muchshorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying wide open flowers.

Verm., Schuit. & de Vogel. in floral morphology, but can be distinguished by its 5-veined (vs. 7-veined) dorsal sepal, ovate-lanceolate (vs. oblong) lateral sepals, obliquely ovate-oblong petal, erose-toothed margins (vs. subulate, margin fimbriate) and obovate lip with a large, oblong basal callus, and an obtuse base (vs. broad cordate-ovate, center greatly thickened and fleshy, base retuse)."
