Common Name The Rough Bulbophyllum [refers to the surface of the sepals and petals]

Flower Size .8" [2 cm]

Found in Assam India, Bangladesh, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim and Thailand as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte at elevations around 1000 to 2000 meters with crowded small, conical pseudobulbs [sulcate with age] carrying a single apical 6" [15 cm] long leaf that blooms in the spring on a basal, erect, 2 3/4" [7 cm] long inflorescence with an umbell of 3 to 6 flowers.

Kew puts Bulbophyllum psychoon Rchb. f. 1878 as a synomym of B scabratum but Averyanov considers them different and I tend to agree. I also feel along with Averyanov that they belong to different sections as I have them indicated.

Synonyms Bulbophyllum confertum Hkr.f. 1890; Cirrhopetalum caespitosum Wall. ex Lindl. 1838; Phyllorchis conferta (Hook.f.) Kuntze 1891
