Common Name The Mt. Sopoetan Bulbophyllum [A mountain in Sulawesi]

Flower Size 5/8" [1.6 cm]

Found on the lower slopes of Mount Kinabalu part of the Croker range of Sabah and Sarawak Borneo as well as Sulawesi in high montane mossy forests at elevations of 1200 to 2100 meters as a small sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with a woody rhizome giving rise to 1 " to 4" between each small, discoid pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, rather thick, ovate to elliptic, dark to olive green leaf that is sometimes suffused with purple and has a long basal petiole, which blooms in the summer in situ on a basal, 2 to 12" [5 to 30 cm] long, 1 to 12 flowered inflorescence with tubular, elliptic floral bracts.
