Found in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Colombia and Venezuela at elevations of 500 to 1500 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with a leafy stem enveloped completely by imbicate, leaf bearing sheaths and carrying green, acuminate, distichous, lanceolate, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the Late spring through late summer on an erect, terminal, racemose, 10 to 20 flowered inflorescence
