Common Name The Thin Appendage Habenaria [refers to the spur]
Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]
Found in Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo, Rio de Janiero and Bahia states of Brazil within tall grasses and scrub in high montane forests at elvations above 1500 meters as a medium to giant sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect, thick stem enveloped by erect, lanceolate, acute, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, 6 to 14" [15 to 35 cm] long, spicate, conical, to 30 flowered inflorescence.
Characterized by the obtuse petals that are truncate apically entire or with a tiny tooth at the abse, the lip with more or less developed lateral teeth. H josephinus but it has acute petals and leaves.
