Flower Size .2" [5mm]

Found in Costa Rica in premontane rain forest to cloud forest and disturbed primary forests at elevations around 1850 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by to 15 to 16 lepanthiform sheaths with ciliate ostia and carrying a single apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute, acuminate, gradually narrowing and cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, arising on the back side of the leaf, peduncle slender, 1.2 to 1.6" [3 to 4 cm] long, rachis .4" [1 cm] long, congested, successively single, several flowered inflorescence with oblique, lightly muricate, as long to just shorter than the pedicel floral bracts

"Distinguished by the stout ramicaul clad in a series of brown sheaths with dilated ostia with ciliate margins, reminiscent of L erinacea. The successively flowered raceme is held near the middle of the back of the leaf by a slender peduncle. The sepals are acute, the upper lobe of the transverse petals is broadly oblong while the lower lobe is short and falcat-curved and the ovate blades of the lip are borne by broad, thick connectives from a broad body. The sinus is protruding and notched with a pedunculated appendix." Luer 1995
