Found in Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in wet montane forests as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte at elevations of 950 to 1600 meters with a basally terete ramicaul that gradually widens to the ancipitous apex with 2 distichous, short to elongate bracts below, and carrying a single, apical, narrowly oblong-elliptic, rugose, gradually narrowing below into the shortly conduplicate base leaf that is shallowly emarginate and blooms on a fasiculate, few flowered, subsessile, racemose inflorescence with fleshy, musty smelling flowers and occuring in nature in the spring
