Common Name The Pin Cushion-Shaped Pleurothallis

Found in Napo, Pastaza and Morona-Santiago provinces of Ecuador and Cochabamba deaprtment of Bolivia at elevations of 400 to 650 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot to warm growing, caespitose epiphyte with rounded, abruptly narrowing below into the subpetiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a fascile of erect, longer than the leaf, single flowered inflorescence with imbricating, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.
"Characterized by the small, obtuse, shortly petiolate leaves far surpassed by the peduncle that bears at the tip a fascile of successive flowers. The sepals are carinate-spiculate externally. The lateral sepals are obliquely callous towards the apex. In the very similar Scaphosepalum pleurothallodes these calli are developed into well defined callus like cushions along with minute tails."
