Common Name or Meaning The Short Flowered Pleurothallis

Flower Size .2" [5 mm]

Found in ?Oaxaca Mexico or ?Brazil without collection data as a minaiture sized presumably epiphytic orchid with a stout, erect ramicaul enveloped by 3 loose, tubular, spotted sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, elliptical-obovate, obtuse, cuneate below into the subsessile base leaf that blooms on a thick, .04" [1 mm] long, abbreviated, congested, successively single, 2 flowered inflorescence arising through a broad, loose, spotted spathe from the apex of the ramicaul and has an inflated, minutely pubescent floral bract

CAUTION need a better photo of the lip to verify that this is indeed P breviflora so please use with caution. There has been doubt as to the location cited by Lindley, who denoted it coming from Mexico, where it has never again been seen. The orchid in the photo above was found in Brazil and may confirm this orchids location if only better photos could surface..
