Common Name The Heart Shaped Growth Pleurothallis
Flower Size more than 1/2" [more than 1.2 cm]
This small to medium sized species is found in Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Colombia and Ecuador in wet montane forests from elevations of 300-2900 meters and is a hot to cool growing plant with a rigid, erect ramicaul enveloped by two tight sheaths and carrying a single, apical, cordate, coriaceous leaf that blooms on an apical, short, single flowered inflorescence subtended by a papery sheath holding the flower close to the leaf base and occurs in the late spring through early fall.
CAUTION The first photo, although an alba variety, is absolutely correct to Luer's drawing the others all are lacking in one detail or other.
