Found in Ecuador in wet montane cloud forests at elevations of 730 to 1900 meters as a miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome giving rise to a repent ramicaul carrying a single, apical, broadly elliptical, grey green with purple spots leaf that blooms at any time of the year on a very short, single flowered inflorescence with the flower enveloped by a dry, red brown, inflated bract
