Found from Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Venezuela as well as Trinidad as a miniature, creeping or caespitose, hot to warm growing epiphyte that occurs in montane rain forest and evergreen forests at elevations of 0 to 2100 meters with a terete ramicaul with a single, apical, elliptic, obtuse, apiculate, thicker along the midrib, thickly coriaceous, gradually narrows below into the channeled petiole leaf and blooms on an apical, 4.5 to 5" [9 to 11 cm] long, pendulous, racemose, several flowered inflorescence with small, ovate-triangular, acuminate floral bracts that holds the flowers at mid-leaf or at leaf length and open in succession, all occuring in the winter through late summer.
