Common Name or Meaning Mandon's Pleurothallis [German Botanist in Bolivia 1800's]

Found in Ecuador and La Paz department of Bolivia at elevations around 3000 to 3300 meters as a small sized, cold growing, shortly repent terrestrial with ascending to erect, separate, not fasciculate, slender ramicauls enveloped with a tubular sheath near the middle and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute to subacute, acuminate, cuneate below into the subpetiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter and again in the early summer on a sublax, distichous to secund, arising through a slender spathe from an annulus below the abscission layer, 2 to 3.2" [5 to 8 cm] long including the .8" [2 cm] long peduncle, simultaneously several flowered inflorescence with an infundibular, as long to longer than the ovary floral bract.

"Characterized by a shortly creeping and ascending rhizome, erect ramicauls and an oblong, petiolate leaf. The raceme, about as long as the leaf is subtended by a slender spathe. The sepals are minutely ciliate, the petals are oblong witha single vein but three veined below the middle. The lip is trilobes above the middle with the anterior margins of the lobes thickened. Similar specis that arae repent are P orectopus and P scansor." Luer 1998
