Found in Mexico, Guatemalla, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua in cloud forests at elevations around 600 to 2200 meters as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with stout, erect, ramicauls enveloped basally by a few scarious sheaths and a tubular one above and carrying a single apical, patent, thickly coriaceous, narrowly cordate, acute to subacute leaf that is cuneate below into a conduplicate, subpetiolate base and blooms in the fall on a fascile of single, successive flowers, producing from 1 to 4 simultaneously at the apex of the ramicaul.

Disitnguished b ythe narrowly ovate leaf and a small brownish flower with obtuse sepals ans a short, broadly ovate, cordate lip that is deflexed below the middle and is held against the underside of the column.
